Ellen Sinreich is a deeply experienced real
estate attorney sought after by clients for her unique blend of legal, real
estate, entrepreneurial and sustainability expertise. Simon Property Group,
Related, Rouse Properties, PaineWebber, James Campbell Company, the Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation, the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority
and Footlocker have turned to Ellen to structure, negotiate, document and close
over $15 billion of transactions.
After receiving top honors at Columbia Law School and practicing
law at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City, Ellen founded Sinreich
& Associates, a real estate law firm with a national scope. At Sinreich
& Associates, Ellen and her team of attorneys assisted public and private
sector clients in connection with the acquisition, development, leasing,
financing and disposition of real estate.
Following a decade at the helm of Sinreich & Associates, Ellen
focused her formidable talents on a new challenge, building a real estate
operating company. As a senior executive and general counsel at DLC Management
Corp., Ellen was instrumental in DLC’s growth from 25 properties to over 100.
While at DLC, Ellen recognized that the need to implement climate change
solutions would impact the real estate industry. Thus a new call to action
propelled Ellen to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
Accredited Professional (LEED AP) status and develop tools to enable the real
estate industry to green the built environment.
Armed with the skills and experience gained at DLC and as a LEED
AP, Ellen continues to represent clients on a national basis with their real estate
transactional needs as the Managing Principal of The Sinreich Group. Her considerable legal and real
estate know-how is enhanced by an in-depth understanding of green building
strategies, regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
Ellen was honored in 2014 as a Pioneering Woman in Real Estate, is
on the faculty of New York University and has lectured at the Wharton School of Business,
Georgetown Law School, Columbia University and the New York City Bar Association. She
created and chaired the Practising Law Institute’s Green Real Estate Summit, is the New
York/Northern New Jersey Chair of the International Council of Shopping Centers
and the Chair of the Membership Committee of the Urban Land Institute’s New
York Women’s Leadership Initiative. A prolific writer and thought leader, Ellen
has published numerous articles and white papers on a variety of legal and real
estate topics.
