James M. Kessler


James M. Kessler is the Founder and President of Stonehenge Property Group, a 10 year old private development, project management and strategic advisory company.  He has over 35 years experience in all facets of real estate planning, acquisitions, entitlements, development, financing, leasing and operations.  He has been directly involved in well over 120 projects throughout the western United States encompassing in excess of 25,000,000 square feet.  These projects range from neighborhood/community centers, power centers, lifestyle centers, mixed-use developments, office buildings and major redevelopment projects. 

In addition to the Company’s own projects, he has served as the development lead and project manager for numerous owners, institutions and tenants including Prudential Real Estate Advisors, Clarion Partners, Catellus Development Corporation, Principal Real Estate Advisors, Jamestown Properties, Westrust Ventures, Fitness International, County of Sacramento, City of Hercules and City of Citrus Heights.  These third party assignments encompass over 2,400,000 square feet of development and in excess of 3,000 acres of community land planning.

Prior to establishing Stonehenge Property Group, Mr. Kessler was a principal at Highland Development Company, Chief Operating Officer of ScanlanKemperBard Companies, Chief Development Officer of Federal Realty Investment Trust and Chief Development Officer of Burnham Pacific Properties/The Martin Group.  He is also a Director of Owens Realty Mortgage, a publically traded REIT and a guest instructor at the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics, Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley.  Mr. Kessler has a degree in Business Management & Administration from Golden Gate University.
